It seems Microsoft doesn’t like Evernote. That’s okay, I don’t either.

It doesn’t matter what your reasoning. Whether it’s the constant state of flux in the upper levels of management, the bloated and not-at-all reliable interface or the fact that the price just went up to $69.99 per year for premium users (up from $50) — Microsoft wants you to switch to OneNote.

A new era of tech events has begun

We’re back in New York this November for the 4th edition of our growth-focused technology event.

It’s not the first time Microsoft targeted disgruntled Evernote users, either. In March, the company unveiled its importer tool for Windows, aimed squarely at those looking for an Evernote alternative. Now, the importer is coming to Mac.

That’s not all though. Microsoft points out that the $69 price tag for Evernote Premium would get you all of the apps included in Office 365 Personal (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher and Access) as well as 1TB of cloud storage and 60 minutes of free calling on Skype.

After switching myself a couple months back (only with the ridiculous task of importing my own notes without any automation), I can say that OneNote is definitely top-notch. I honestly wouldn’t have stayed with Evernote so long had I given OneNote a more thorough go — or took the time to find out it had a Web clipper similar to that of Evernote.

Seems I’m not alone, either. Since the Windows importer tool launched, Microsoft has moved 71 million Evernote pages to OneNote.
